The inspiration for this piece came from working in the Rocky Mountains, with the job of burning log stock piles in the wilderness to encourage re-growth.
The only way to travel the unsteady ground, deep with snow was by horseback and with a propane fire torch. Even though it was 20 below, the scorching heat from the fires was intense.
The horses bucked and the flames distorted the landscape.
